Safely Reopening Schools
On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, the ABCUSD Board of Education held a special study session to consider how to safely open schools. Members of the Safely Reopening ABC Schools Task Force presented the District’s proposed plan. A video of the virtual meeting can be found here. The District will be moving forward with both of the following options for families to choose from:
o HYBRID MODEL: The hybrid model means students spend time learning at school (in-person) and learning at home. Students are assigned to a group (cohort) and each group rotates 2-days at school and 3-days learning at home. When at school, learning will be similar to a traditional school day. When at home, students engage in asynchronous learning.
o VIRTUAL ACADEMY: The ABC Online Academy is a virtual school offered online with synchronous learning at home. Students attending the ABC Online Academy will not attend school on campus. Similar to a regular school day, students will have specific class times (or class periods) and be required to attend their virtual online classroom Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Wednesdays, students engage in asynchronous learning.
